Hi everyone, im just starting my first full resto on a Mk1, LOTS of work to do, but looking forward to cracking on with it now! Thought I'd introduce myself as I'll more than likely be bombarding you with mk1 related questions.
Anyways....Im in the middle of fitting a new roof skin, and have been debating whether sealant is needed when fitting? It seems that everywhere that sealant was used from the factory seems to be major points of rust. Ive read minimags write up on fitting a roof skin and they suggest using a bead inside and out. Im going to be spot welding it on and trying to get the welds close enough to be a continous seam.
Whats everyones opinion, is it needed? and if so what stuff would be best?
Cheers
Matt

Re: Roof sealant
I would agree, a good bead of tiger seal or similar as well worked in as you can get makes sense to me.
