morris mini , de luxe , super , export?

Post by vmaxscart »

Hi ,
I have a 1963 build morris mini , just acquired ,
fiesta yellow with full powder blue / grey / gold brocade interior , 3 clock dash , black lower padded rail, overiders on bumpers , floor start , dry suspension , no heater , now on d plate , story that is was bought in Bahrain, car almost mint
chassis M/A2S4 s 24456*
Is this a morris mini export ? super? super deluxe?
it look untouched when i bought it other than having the karobes rally seat covers protecting /hiding the brocade, last used in 2004 .
all info gratefully received
dont worry i'm not going to supercharge it !, I have modified a 12g 295 and have a pair of monobloc Amals set aside for it .

Sounds like a Morris Super to me.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies, the chassis number matches for a super but I've never seen a super with brocade though, anyone else know of or heard of one ? was it an order option ? Maybe for export only ?

No the Super was a seperate model from the Super Deluxe, all Supers had the brocade trim/dash vinyl/Cooper style ashtray (!) door chromes/shared Cooper colour shemes etc. They also featured unique chrome grilles. Do a search on 'Super' on this forum and all will be revealed ! There's a restoration thread or two on Supers on here also Stuart.

Boot board brackets is also a fairly obvious clue if it has them?
The interior trim IS brocade is it? Not blue/grey fleck which was fitted in some Fiesta Yellow deluxe cars?

Garry Dickens is the Prince of Supers and runs a register for them. He'd be the man to talk to.

super deluxe only had brocade if sombody put them in
the chassis number is a mid 63 anyway..the last super morris stopped circa 149000 (im not quoting the real number on here)

floor start wasnt an option,
not all supers had brocade trim either-some had dove grey inserts

Why not? It is in plenty of books - 148816 for Morris and 307124 for Austin seem to be the consensus.
