Fitting Minispares spotlamp brackets
Is the slotted section at the back of these intended to be secured in anyway? Anyone got any pics of these things actually fitted?

Yes.
You need to drill a hole and secure rear of bracket to front panel with a nut & bolt. I use 5/16" UNF x 1" bolts, flat washer top and bottom and of course a spring washer under the nut. If you don't do this the bracket will vibrate. The slotted section is concealed once grill is fitted up.
Don't have any cars here currently to photograph but it's pretty straight forward to figure out.

Can I suggest that you insert a piece of thin, 2mm or so thick neoprene or a piece of inner tube rubber between the bracket and the spot light bracket when you fit them. Did that, following same advice on day one with my new RCSport.

I use some caoutchouc (call me spell king if I got that right) - actually it is 2mm caoutchouc cork gasket material - for a more period look.Peter Laidler wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 9:14 pm Can I suggest that you insert a piece of thin, 2mm or so thick neoprene or a piece of inner tube rubber between the bracket and the spot light bracket when you fit them. Yes I am a nerd: I am researching the Austrian Mini-racing scene of the 60s and 70s

The reason I suggested a rubber or neoprene pad was to eliminate any possibility of moisture or water being retained - as might happen with a cork or fibre pad or gasket

Re: Fitting Minispares spotlamp brackets
I haven't been able to figure out exactly how they are intended to be installed. I thought there might be instructions in the Minispares listing but no.
Would appreciate if someone could post a pic or diagram.

The open side goes into the front panel like this, and the other goes under the bumper

Re: Fitting Minispares spotlamp brackets
Hi folks, I realise that this is a late reply but may be of interest nevertheless. I didn't like the idea of drilling holes in the visible part of the front panel so I built brackets and my own lamp carrier. The brackets are of quarter steel for stability and the carrier is two inch aluminium angle eighth thick. The front of the angle is sawn off leaving a small angle of about seven sixteenth. The brackets bolt between the bonnet lock panel and the vertical part of the front panel so the bolts are hidden behind the front grille. The protruding parts of the brackets are adjusted to fit between the slats of the grille and are eighth steel because they are short. The carrier is bolted to these. See photos.
