Having done some research on the ratios of the drop gears now available.... I am thinking it might be a topic for discussion.
Quite a range of ratios available.
What do you think about which ratio is best for which application/Final drive?
A. 22 tooth primary - 30 tooth idler - 25 tooth input = 1.136-1
B. 24 tooth primary - 30 tooth idler - 24 tooth input = 1.0-1
C. 23 tooth primary - 30 tooth idler - 23 tooth input = 1.0-1
D. 24 tooth primary - 30 tooth idler - 25 tooth input = 1.0416-1
E. 23 tooth primary - 30 tooth idler - 24 tooth input = 1.0434-1
F. 22 tooth primary - 30 tooth idler - 23 tooth input = 1.045-1
G. 23 tooth primary - 30 tooth idler - 25 tooth input = 1.0869-1
I. 22 tooth primary - 30 tooth idler - 24 tooth input = 1.09-1
K. 24 tooth primary - 30 tooth idler - 23 tooth input = 0.958-1

Re: Drop gears
I am using option K with a 3.4CWP gives about 3.5-1 , previously had 3.7 slightly to low for my engine spec and use age. Plus is the S speedo now reads correct. It just raises the engine revs.

Re: Drop gears
I have been using OD drop gears with 2.76 CWP. I have built several gear boxes with this option. Works well for people who like driving highway speeds. I have used up all my NOS gears and plan to remove my own in favor of a more friendly around town gearing. Steve (CTR)
