Would like to help...
Thought I'd just let the Forum know that ...I ...(and others over here) are more than happy to help with parts/bits for members in the want section......
However, bit difficult at the moment....our good old postal service has been on strike now for FOUR weeks with no immediate end in in sight.
Our lack Lustre Government refuses to force them back to work....

Hi Dermott,
Wow... 4 weeks!! I guess that will create a lot of trouble in the mails.. and will take a lot of time to stabilise.
What are they claiming? Better salaries?

Re: Would like to help...
Yep, a royal pain in the A** Their demands are numerous and absolutely ridiculous.
19% raise....and other guarantees....more sick days and they want to bank the sick days...keep them there till they retire. They are a Crown corporation...good pay...great benefits and good pension. They are so out of touch.... Can. Post has lost nearly $4 billion over the last 4 years.....
As of Monday...over 12 million packages sitting in depots across the country.
They have a staff of 56 thousand,.....that was the number needed back in 2019 when they were handling 5.5 billion packages (year)...that has dropped to 2,5 billion....but they still have the same number of employees....
A private corporation would never operate like that...they would be bankrupt!

Could be from Fawlty Towers...unfortunately, it's real....in all fairness...they lowered their pay demands from 24 to 19%!!!MiNiKiN wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 12:59 pmPlease tell me this is from a Monty Python sketch....360gts wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 7:31 pm Yep, a royal pain in the A** Their demands are numerous and absolutely ridiculous.

Re: Would like to help...
FINALLY, a small glimmer of hope........the lame duck lefty woke labor minister has asked the labor relations board to send the posties back to work....as you can imagine...they are not happy about this. We will know in a couple of days if they will abide by this .
Fingers/toes crossed.
BTW, Pat the Postman...hilarious.

Well, wish I could say it is back to normal....not quite....think they are working to rule as they were forced back to work.
I am still waiting on a few packages from the US...tracking shows them sitting for a few days at each facility.....they are moving at a snail pace through the system.
They are now accepting outgoing mail now for Europe....

My Mum lives in Canada (NS) and it's not the country she moved to in 2005 thanks to that Trudeau idiot. The sheer volume of beggars in Halifax is astounding.
Royal Mail have been bought out and hopefully it will become a really serious postal service. Tbf it's not bad as it is. Under the Starmer dictatorship it would turn to sh*t in no time however so perhaps it's been saved in time.

Re: Would like to help...
OH CANADA! Having just suffered through 4 + weeks of striking postal workers.....Canada Post just implemented a 25% increase this morning
Guess I could sort of swallow this one if service was better...it is getting worse.
25%.... then, they wonder why people are using the postal service less and less! Typical, you can't sell your product....so what to do...increase your prices.

Re: Would like to help...
Hi, well, they are back at work...but the mail seems to be slower...maybe they are upset at being sent back by the Government.
Cheers
