Stolen Cooper S
Just a heads up, this Mk1 Cooper S was stolen a couple of days ago.
I have the owner’s permission to share, please keep an eye out for it. I believe it was in London.

There is also a 'Stolen Mini Alerts' section on 'The Mini Forum' which might be worth the owner posting in:-

The owner said that he thought he might have been followed home, central London I think.

Re: Stolen Cooper S
How terrible, I used to get followed home when I was in my Cosworth a lot, well not quite true as when I was suspicious home wasn't where it should be. Had 5 attempts on my garage door in 5 months though, thank goodness for the cameras and alarms!!

That car was for sale recently wasn’t it? He’s not had someone round sniffing has he?

Re: Stolen Cooper S
It was indeed for sale, I had enquired about it and was potentially going to view it today but got a message from the seller saying it had been stolen. (I hadn’t made firm arrangements so wasn’t given an address) He said nobody had actually viewed it I think.

Re: Stolen Cooper S
Can is ask what alarms and locks you use ?
Dont compromise your security just a general idea
I have been trying to find a lock that you cant cut through with a slitting wheel on an angle grinder for a while.

His insurance company will be suspicious. It always rings a warning bell when a car which has been for sale for a while gets stolen

Re: Stolen Cooper S
Out of interest did it really sell at auction in 2021 for quoted '£43,250 winning bid' and is that a record for a Mk1 Cooper S? (ie. not a famous works car, etc).

Re: Stolen Cooper S
When I enquired about it on here people knew of the owner. I’ve seen several Mk1 S sell for more than that in the past.
It was for sale at £40k on Autotrader most recently.

Re: Stolen Cooper S
So what is the record price paid for one so far?
Much as I like a nice Mk1 Cooper S i think I would suffer from buyer's remorse if I had spent £40k+ on one...

Re: Stolen Cooper S
Does bring up the subject of insurance and how they deal with the drop in values. We were all fairly keen to up valuations when the prices went up and rightly so, but doubt those valuations would be paid out now. People were asking £50k for really nice S’s about four years ago, they’d do very well to get £35k now. I wouldn’t think most of our agreed values would hold water if the worst did happen!
By the way what happened to all those Minis stolen from UKMinis? Went very quiet very quickly on that, social media for all its many sins seems to have worked very well in some recent classic car thefts in getting the cars back.

Re: Stolen Cooper S
got some of the cars back and the z cars one was put up and won by someone. Not a lot of details given from what i recall, the stuff he did recover only went local as suspected.Pete wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 10:09 am Does bring up the subject of insurance and how they deal with the drop in values. Re: Stolen Cooper S
The loser can be rest assured that the loss will be being investigated with a fine tooth come....... Not by the cops, but by the insurers! They'll want every bit of info and the crime report, details and all the paperwork. Even the 'agreed value' clause will be tested to the nth degree........, not necessarily to the losers benefit either. Just as Pete alluded to a few posts ago.
