Ooh I do like a sprint, always super impressed by people who take the plunge to actually start cutting like that. I shall keep my eyes peeled.
Of course I know what a dipstick is, you get called something often enough you look it up!

I still wonder how any of these new sprints are registered without a "Q" plate & IVA

If a Mini is already registered with a current up to date V5 it makes sense not to contact the DVLA on anything unecessarily....unless you are happy to possibly open a can of worms and risk the allocation of a Q plate. Based on another Mk1 forum members recent experience (see link below) even drilling a hole in your Minis bodyshell now risks your registration being withdrawn...which probably means most of our classic Minis which have been modified or undergone restoration in recent years should be on a Q plate if ever volunteered for an inspection by the DVLA.Herbert850 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 11:25 am I still wonder how any of these new sprints are registered without a "Q" plate & IVA
eg. Mk1 Forum member (Bitsilly) did a very well engineered Electric Mini (1960 Mk1) conversion and then went through a DVLA inspection to have the registration documents updated. However they ‘discovered’ a drilled hole for cables in the original 12-volt battery box in the Mini’s boot floor and declared the chassis radically modified and so gave it zero out of 5 points. Thus justifying their deletion of the registration. Incredibly they refused to allow the hole to be welded up because the welding would have been subsequent to the drilling...

That is all absolutely true.
