NOS Pick Up Shell

Post by YORKY »

Just to inform members of a nos pick up shell making its way to Mathewsons for auction. Been in storage for many years. Complete with doors, tailgate and bonnet. Would be nice if it went to a forum member so we could follow its progress to completion.

Cheers Jim

I got told about one somewhere in Yorkshire a few years back, chased it up but all leads went cold. Possibly the same one, can’t be many about?

Is it round tunnel / magic wand or square tunnel / rod change ?

Can you share any pictures. It would be great to see some.

Sorry no pictures but I think it is around 1978/1981. Been in Scotland for many many years. Loaded into trailer last night. Doors bonnet and tailgate come with the shell but not fitted.

About the same as getting Paul Wiginton to restore a rotter with a stack of m machine panels then.

There was a new pick up shell on Facebook a few months ago for about £20,000.
Paul would probably charge less to build a new shell than restore one.

I asked Jim a question via this sites personal message system, and had an email through my email provider quoting Jim asking if I'd had his message answering my question.

And I have not had that answer message via this sites personal message system.

I wonder if that message got lost. My inbox is not full.

I am curious as to whether the forum messaging system is working properly.

“ NOT REGISTERED - NEW OWNER TO APPLY. No paperwork.” ………..maybe it has an ID that could be registered ?

That would be a fun conversation with DVLA

I wouldn’t be surprised if it dosent sell, if the guide price reflects the reserve…..there is not much profit in it for a dealer/ restorer and the shell maybe too late for lots of enthusiasts
