Changes on logbook ie. engine size
Going to update my logbook with the new engine details but can only find where to enter the engine no. nothing about capacity? What is the normal process when doing this? Are there any pitfalls? It is currently registered as an 848cc and the new engine is 1330. I have notified my insurance. Advice appreciated thanks Steve

Re: Changes on logbook ie. engine size
I believe there is a form available on the DVA website for changes of information on the V5s. I know there is on the DVA-NI site and I'm sure the process is the same here as it is on the mainland.

Change to engine and cylinder capacity (engine size)
DVLA will need written evidence of any changes to engine number and cylinder capacity (cc). Written evidence can be:
•a receipt for the replacement engine
•written evidence from the manufacturer
•an inspection report provided for insurance purposes
•written confirmation on headed paper from a garage if the change in engine size took place before you bought the vehicle
Hope this helps. How to tell DVLA about the changes
Using your registration certificate you’ll need to:
•notify any changes or corrections by completing section seven
•sign and date the declaration box
For changes not listed in section seven you'll need to underline the vehicle details in section four, writing the new information next to them. You must also produce documentary evidence with a covering letter explaining the changes.
If the changes don’t affect your vehicle tax, then send the registration certificate and any additional documentation to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BA.
If the changes affect the amount of vehicle tax you pay, you’ll need to apply to your nearest DVLA local office to:
•apply for an exchange licence if your tax disc shows the old details
•retax your vehicle if the vehicle tax has expired
In both cases, you’ll need to include the registration certificate and any additional documentation with your application.

Apologies for the formatting.
VERiFiCATioN oF ENGiNE CHANGES
T his was a subject that has
been causing some difficulties.
dVLA have now made a
statement as follows:
‘I note that the issue of evidence to
support notifications of engine change
also features [in the list of questions].
As you are aware, this was raised at the
recent meeting with the Minister. I am
pleased to confirm that this policy has
been reviewed and that it will no longer
be necessary for keepers of vehicles in
the Historic class - date of manufacture
before 1 Jan 1973 - to provide evidence
to support an engine notification.
Grateful if you can pass this information
on to your members’.
All credit must go to David Hurley
and Geoff Smith of the Federation for
being able to do promote a ‘top down’
approach to resolve this problem.
It is anticipated that DVLA will need
time to brief their staff of this change
in policy, and update their internal and external documentation. In the
unlikely event that an engine change
for a vehicle with the taxation class of
Historic Vehicle is rejected by DVLA,
please send a copy of the rejection letter
to the Federation. This should enable
the Federation to have the rejection
letter retracted, and enable DVLA to
re-brief the staff member who sent out
the rejection letter. If it is a ‘verbal’
rejection, then the name of the DVLA
staff member and the name of the office
will be helpful.

Re: Changes on logbook ie. engine size
That is good news. The last time I made a change of capacity I ended up having to invent an invoice for the work & submitting it with the application. I didn't like doing it but there was no way round it. They would not accept a change of capacity without an invoice from the person who had done it.
