chrome side wheelarch sill trim

Post by captain »

Hi all can anyone clarify please if the chrome trim on the wheelarch, on a 1960 mk1 mini minor deluxe is the plain standard flat trim ? or the fluted type ? and what type is the easiest to fit, as it seems to be costing me a fortune fitting these without damaging them.

Flat plain plastic trim on a 60 and it's by far the easiest to fit too.

Surely a 1960 DeLuxe would have had the six piece fluted stainless trim.

My own early deluxe (many years ago) certainly had the plain version of the plastic "chrome" trim. My impression was that the stainless steel trims were introduced along with the Cooper/Super?

This 59 has painted steel ridged trim, hence why I suggest that the delux of the same era would have ridged stainless.

I believe the car shown is a "basic" model and that the painted trim (also fitted to early vans) is correct. I still think the "deluxe" of the period had the plain silver plastic trim.
