62 Austin Seven Cooper
Hi!
Here are some pics of my Mini.
I bought it in 2005 and it was not used since 72! as it had a Engine fail, it was stored and not used since then. It seems as they found a replacement 998 Cooper Engine but never finished the build.
With only 24809km on the Clock the Interiour was in very good condition.
I then undertake it a ligth resto with only removing the Subframes and Interiour, clean them and build them up and mounted all together.
The Engine and Gearbox had also an Overhaul with modifing the Head, putting in a good SW5 wich resulting a healthy 63,2 DIN Horsepower!
Since then i covered over 30`000km with a trip to Denmark two trips to Scottland and few other funny Trips!
Anyway, with the desire for more Power i build me up my dream Engine last Summer:
-1340 S Engine
-Arden Head
-Dave Anton Cam
-MED Rockers
-Amal Carbs
-Swift Dropgears
-Swift Dogbox
-Quaife LSD
-Swift Diff-outputs
ectect...
Enjoy the Pics

Mine is original spec so will be 20 times slower then yours.
I love your photos.

Re: 62 Austin Seven Cooper
Very bad Weekend...
After building my dream Engine last Autum and just run about 30 Miles, i had to put the Car away for the winter month's i just get the Time to take it out of Winthersleep yesterday.
As the Engine was not running for such a long Period, i take out the Sparks to alow the Engine going to make Oil pressure without having any compression.
To my great Shock the fourth Cylinder spew out Rusty Whater!!! My apphrehensions were bad and confirmed as i took away the Head: the Pistonring has begun to rust and made some deep marks in the Cylinder wall...
The Headgasket looked like New and there were no traces visible on the Block.
After Headscraching and thinking the whole Nigth i turned my attention to the Head this morning.
The result of intensive research was that the Inletport on Cylinder four was repaired with some liquid metal or Araldite!!!
This remembers me the Story of Jim Withehouse with his first Arden Head...
But why did they do the same mistake 40 Years later Again?!?
I hit rock bottom

Re: 62 Austin Seven Cooper
It seems about time for a bit of Quality aluminium welding.
I can only give my sympathy and wish your car a swift recovery.

Re: 62 Austin Seven Cooper
Sorry to hear, but as already stated "time for some quality Alloy welding"
Soo many different types of Alloy welding these days, so this shouldnt be a problem.
