I agree, from my experience classic bikes ( especially British ) have really dropped in value. Scooters are following the trend too. I think it’s a generation thing, but because minis spanned two or three generations the drop in value is happening a bit slower. Look at cars….and bikes from the 1940’s and 50’s……..there’s nobody around who wants them anymore.beardylonodn wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 6:44 pm I think, as some people may have over paid post Covid, they are trying to unload before the market drops more.
This is true of the classic motorcycle trade too, by some accounts.

No mention of changing class from petrol to electric, will this be accepted by DVLA or is it just assumed you don't tell them in the hope that they never find out ?. Also how do insurance companies view these conversions ?. Do they not check that DVLA have been notified ?. I'm just curious, we've been here before and know the pitfalls.ORB58 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 1:02 pm Mk1 innocenti for sale on car and classic that has been converted to an EV.

My only comment is that it looks to me like a waste of a nice looking and valuable inno. If that gets that price then I'm a piccolo player!

Also, if you’d spent £70k, and it’s actually drives, I read the seller is busy, but surely easier to finish it off and then sell it? Also I who would want a £30k left hand drive electric car in the UK? Maybe someone in Europe might be interested.

I'll buy it just for the "only one in the world set of Campagnolo Magnesium Wheels"
Yes I am a nerd: I am researching the Austrian Mini-racing scene of the 60s and 70s
Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
I could understand swapping a Tesla power train into a 8 MPG yank tank...but if money is too tight to run a Mini then you're in the wrong hobby. Hate to think of the hoops you'll need to jump through to get the DVLA to share your vision.

Is this Andy's old Inni and why have they taken the Inni bonnet badge off? Such a waste of a lovely car!

Lovely '65 Mk1 Cooper here, it used to belong to a mate of mine before it was restored, he bought it from the original owner in Rugby in 2003, it was taken off the road in 1973 when it failed its MOT...

I can remember seeing those original brocade seats sitting on my mate's garage floor thinking ''they're nice, I wonder if he'll let me have them...''

I was parked next to the beast at Beaulieu in 2023.
Thought it looked familiar, I snapped it (sort of) at Stanford Hall a few years back...

Yes, this is Andy’s old mini. The EV conversion has absolutely ruined the car. I remember how much time him and my grandad spent on that car to make it immaculate and use original innocenti parts. Such a shame.davidnutland wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 12:06 pm Is this Andy's old Inni and why have they taken the Inni bonnet badge off? Such a waste of a lovely car!

I'm not one to call "waste of a classic" but that Inno is a real waste.
Of course I know what a dipstick is, you get called something often enough you look it up!

Absolutely. It would have made far more sense to convert a standard mk1 than do it to what was a very rare and original car.InnoCooperExport wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 12:58 pm I'm not one to call "waste of a classic" but that Inno is a real waste.

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
Even a Mk1 is relatively rare and valuable, why not just convert and 80's Mayfair or something with little value ?ORB58 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 1:22 pmAbsolutely. As usual, obviously not declared to DVLA. Still shows as an 848cc petrol. Interesting to know how such a conversion is treated by other European countries if trying to register abroad bearing in mind that it is a left hooker.

What a ringer… I reported it to eBay but they said it didn’t violate anything in their policy…

I struggled to find any parts from 1962 too, but doubt it was re-shelled in the 70sExminiman wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 8:30 amSeller does say it was reshelled to be fair - bit of an under statement though, not sure how many 1962 bits came acrossjamiestevens94 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 8:10 am What a ringer… I reported it to eBay but they said it didn’t violate anything in their policy…
