Question for a 1979 Mk4 saloon.
Has anyone fitted one of these recently, and do you have to remove the 4 switch panel along with heater and choke controls to fit it?

Yes I have a couple of weeks ago. I do not see how you could remove it without removing the switch panel and cables. Maybe people have been successful but it would be challenging if at all possible.

Definitely have to remove the switch panel, once you have it removed and lay on the new dash pad it will become obvious how the switch panel holds the pad in place. Unfortunately it’s one of those jobs that has to be done the long way, it’s the pain of undoing the heater and choke cables that makes the job so fiddley, like so many jobs on Minis, it can take longer to find a quick way of doing the job than it does to do it the long way.
