is it just me or is anyone else a bit miffed that some members ask a lot of tech questions and get good responses with help and advise. and then when they have something that they are selling, they open it up to the world first, and when its not doing very well they basically offer it on here as a back up,
i am fairly new to this forum, but treat people as i like to be treated, i'm desperate for some pieces, but am not prepared to deal with some people! i risk getting alienated but sod it, i have principals!!!
is it just me???

Re: is it just me???
I have just done exactly what you refer to with a brocade rear shelf in the for sale section which despite the current e bay auction price being low I have no doubt it will make a tidy amount due to its rarity. I have already declined 3 very good bids outside of the auction. I have offered it on here as it occurred to me that people on this forum would potentially have an interest in obtaining one. I know when I wanted one for my car it took a great deal of time and effort to collect the brocade trim and I was grateful for any leads I could get.I also had to pay a lot for it. If this is deemed 'not in the spirit' of the forum then I will happily delete my post. It does seem at odds with the idea of a 'for sale' section though as I don't wish for it to be a well kept secret. I am trying to sell it. I don't think it is very fair to say "treat people as I like to be treated." I am not mistreating somebody by offering an item for sale nor for asking technical questions or offering a view on matters relating to Minis.. It is just an opportunity which you can take up or decline. I really am not that bad and it is only a car part after all. Regards. Mark.

Don't think there's tooo much wrong with a little self promotion on the forum when it comes to selling so long as it's not over the top. It's fair to say the only reason some come on here at all is to flog stuff but each to their own eh ? Just curious so don't take a fence Roles but why have you listed your item as 'private', never quite understood that ?

Yeah but (and this is no slight whatsoever on Roles) what's in it for the seller to make their listing that private ?

i always assume that anyone with private selling is hiding something, shill bidding or just been devious.
i dont bid on the stuff
i use the same rules if the adverts are in text speak, illiterate english, capital letters, huge coloured fonts etc
please note, these are my own, individual sales, nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, minispares

Re: is it just me???
I for one have no problems with people who ask questions here but choose to sell somewhere else. Obviously I'd like to see stuff offered here first (as I did over the winter), but its a free country & everyone is going to choose to sell wherever they think they are going to get the best price.
As an aside, I can confirm that once you have factored in ebay fees, postage & hassle, the prices I received on here were better than any realised on ebay. So, although the ebay top line may be bigger, the costs are also much bigger too.

Have to agree with Mark, after having abit of a clearout on Ebay the other week, after comission and listing fee, then the Pay-Pal fee for recieving the money. It seems abit pointless, but the main thing with me and Ebay is you never know if your going to get really lucky.

Re: is it just me???
Sorry, can't help myself. I want to make it absolutely clear I do not set my listings up as private. This is something e bay have done by default. I have not and do not know how to set up private bidding. I also would like Nippycars to acknowledge that this comment was not referring to me as I have only listed 3 things on the forum for sale and only one has been on e bay. Rant over. Thanks. Mark
