Also, it looks like a smooth-roof but seller says V5 is 1966. So, the V5 is probably already on its second car

Re: WTH??!?! Have you seen this item on ebay.
The Countryman/Traveller Register dates the introduction of the ribbed roof to around October 1965 so it would be quite possible for a smooth roof to be in a Dealers stock, sold and registered in 1966...not forgetting all the factory strikes at the time causing new cars to be parked up for weeks on end awaiting a return to work.MagicWandWoody wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2024 9:29 am Also, it looks like a smooth-roof but seller says V5 is 1966. I remember this seller from sawbridgeworth from a couple of years ago-I was genuinely interested in a car they had, they got very arsey when I asked some questions about the car, they were not happy for me to view unless I paid a deposit!! Perhaps their t&c’s have changed recently but it put me off.

At the end of the advert……. “By bidding on this item, you accept and understand that using this vehicle on the roads in GB would be unlawful in its current condition, and that it will not be used on the roads in GB until it has been put into a lawful condition”and.rs1800 wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 7:11 pm

Is it legal for a trader to do this? They sell enough motors ,im sure it wouldn’t be beyond them to actually make them road legal..Exminiman wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 7:49 pmAt the end of the advert……. “By bidding on this item, you accept and understand that using this vehicle on the roads in GB would be unlawful in its current condition, and that it will not be used on the roads in GB until it has been put into a lawful condition”and.rs1800 wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2024 7:11 pm

Says a lot about them as far as I’m concerned.

Agree, if their cars are “ Sold for Spares and repair” which the last paragraph says they are, they should make it clearer at the beginning or in the advert. Putting it in the “small print” or less prominent area of the advert could be seen they are trying to mislead the buyer.and.rs1800 wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2024 9:40 pmIs it legal for a trader to do this? The question being why is the most significant condition of the sale at the end of the advert…..?
If they deliver the cars they would be compounding the issue with the distance selling regs…

Re the above. Any idea how if fits under the back seat? Can I presume that the early minis didn't have a ttransmission tunnel od the vertical upright under the seat squab part

I guess you would.need 2. Like the wicker baskets that you could get to slide under the mk1 rear seat.
I would think it's very small, more a lunch box than a picnic hamper.
Nice item though.

I thought about that but using the locks as a measurement guide it'd be too wide for under one seat.

Its 16" long - that sounds like it would fit between the companion bin and the tunnel

Is there actually any evidence at all to suggest that it is anything to do with Minis or BMC?

Looks like part of a BMC luggage set, I think there's a photo in the Rob Golding books?

Very nice rare item of original luggage. These didn't last very long & were very expensive when new, consequently there weren't ever many sold. Shame it doesn't have the rest of the set.
I have had one complete set that I used for a while, but went to the land of the rising sun many years ago.

Do these Vortz round port heads make significantly better power than a well worked standard head?
