Need a radiator: eBay alloy two row worth considering?
Hello,
My 1962 Countryman with a 1275 had an Austin America 1300 radiator unsuccessfully wedged in between the fan and sheet metal and they hacked one of the under bonnet supports of as well for clearance for the 1300 AA radiator. Since I don't have an original radiator and it's been ten years since I had my last Mini would one of those two row alloy radiators on eBay be a good choice or are there better options out there? Thanks in advance for your opinions and/or advice! Phil in Austin Texas

I was recommended this for my ongoing 1293 project.
Installation went in order: Lower shroud, fan, radiator, lower hose, upper shroud.

I don't really understand the problem you're asking abouyt. But it seems as though the radiator and some of the surrounding bits have been damaged and you're wondering what to do.
If it's the radiator and the top and bottom tanks and the side frames are OK, I'm sure that there will be a local radiator restorer/fixer who can rebuild it with a new core for cheaper than the cost of a new one.
As for the ducting on the inner wing that I think you say is damaged. Well, don't worry about it. It serves no cooling or thermal purpose at all. All it was made to do was frustrate owners. It was so crap, that later on, even BL removed it. Forced air goes where it is forced to go........

There was a recent thread on radiators if you do a search.
For what ever it's worth, I wouldn't be fitting an Aluminum radiator.

@ Peter L.
Sorry if I caused any confusion as it wasn't intended, was just trying to give an idea of the mess someone created with the non-Mini oversize radiator (radiator was wedged into the inner wing sheet-metal and into the fan). Thanks for asking the checking questions and appreciate the help and thought's! Regards, Phil

Hey Rog,
It's not an engine I'm familiar with nor worked on so I'm sorry, I can't offer anything based on experience but I'd say, being an Alloy Block / Heads, an Aluminum Radiator would possibly be the go here.

I use a 2 core Minispares C/ARA 4442 radiator, not aluminium but it has cured any tendency for my 1380 engine to overheat when stuck in traffic or giving it some welly even on a hot Summers day however, when tempted to take the car out on a nice day this time of year there is no worthwhile heat from the heater, the gauge shows just above the C instead of on the N as is normal.

We sell and build plenty of A series engines and use the alloy Ebay radiators regularly. I am yet to have an issue with one, and I have fitted hundreds of them.
They are cheap, work extremely well and rarely fail.

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.
