Re: Stromberg Carbs...
In my experience, SU's are simpler (no diaphragm) and work a tad better.

Haven't compared my Stromberg setup against a regular setup of HS2s but I believe they are slightly less tall. Which would mean better for sprints, marcos, jem, etc

Re: Stromberg Carbs...
I had an Alexander Conversion on my 850 a few years ago. They suffered from fuel evaporation when the engine was hot - so much that i had to restart the car on the solenoid!! Always ran lumpy too.

Re: Stromberg Carbs...
Strombergs are no good for Sprints, I tried a pair on mine when I was trying to find an 1.5" carb that would fit. They were lower, but were also "Chunkier" making them even harder to fit on a sprint than a pair of SU's.

In the 60's I changed the strombergs on Imp sport rally engines to SU's to make another 4bhp, from there on other engine mods could take place, I think Roots would have used SU's as well but BMC had the licence

There also seems to be a lot more needles available for SUs, so they tend to be easier to set accurately.
