With you there, Alfasud is a beautiful car to drive, not fast, not reliable but very smooth…..used to love my 205GTI as well, similar to a Mini in lots of ways I felt.

I sold my MINI GP3 for the same reasons, I started to pick up speeding fines for fun. Really hard not to use the loud peddle!

Well, I ran several Alfa Suds - I never had a single breakdown 91-98 over about five or six of them. Problems? Calipers leaking fluid from the handbrake lever one one car and on another, the Bosch cable from distributor to ignition module was earthing to the body. Easily fixed with insulting* tape.

Surely I can't be the only Golf GTi fan on the forum!

Saw a frienf of mine today restoring a Peugeot 205 GTi. Horrendous panel parts cost to restore a rusty body so he's importing a good, cheaper rust free standard left hooker car from Spain in order to use the body. And sell off the standard left over parts

All have a really great New Year. Will lift my large glass of fine Scotch to you all at midnight

My wife had a late mk1 gti cabrio-always felt heavy and under powered to me-im sure the tin top would have been different.
I’ve got a modified R53 Cooper S with just under 200bhp ,pulley, coilovers, intercooler , and a few other mods, look’s standard apart from the ride height, I love it, best car I’ve ever owned.no Bini comments please, it’s every thing a modern mini should be, fast , loud and fun.get one while you can!!

the Vw Tiguan .. my 4 Motion deals with anything that UK Roads throw out & can Tow 2.5t with the drop down tow bar & with Heated Seats to die for +_ the Headlights see around corners .. BUT horrible safety features such as lane assist whatever is that all about & control Screen that packed up & dealer wanted £1600 to fix .. i sorted that off ebay .. Now now back to reality Take any Mk1 Mini assuming the shell is sound then sort out the Brakes first job.. fit 4 Pots + adjustable rear bias with NO Servo.then sort out suspension, fit proper tyres & go on from there with the whatever you need in Power .. Mk1 Mini is the thing to have ..for a Daily in summer my 1275GT because its cheap fun &can be left anywhere

I’d buy the clubman and revert it back to a more standard car then sell it, I’d fit all the nice bits to a understated MK1 (there’s a excellent shell here😉)
You could buy my old 970S moke if you want to scare yourself..
As for modern cars the Audi S1 is excellent value for money 230 bhp and four wheel drive, we now have the golf R 370bhp it’s nice but the S1 was more fun..
