déjà vu 1956

Post by 360gts »

déjà vu
Surely this cannot happen again....1956...Suez canal blocked....tankers going around the Cape of Good Hope....fuel prices skyrocketed and that
became the reason why we all here discussing the Mini. Some good came out of the blockage...the MINI.

It is a possibilty.....hopefully, the US and Britain will police the Red Sea and get rid of the threat.

It does illustrate just how fragile the whole Global trading is...let's hope this situation settles down and we can relax....

There's many 'factors' around the world that currently draw a chilling parallel to just before WWII.

Global Trade has been a double edged sword. On one hand, it has largely put a lid on and tempered differences between many nations.

It's also lulled our political leaders off to la-la land that's allowed manufacturing in the western countries to fall by the way side.

The aggressors in what's unfolding in the Red Sea is largely by nations who fall outside of the benefits of world trade.

I can't help but see that world is a tinder box right now, it only needs a match dropped in the right place and off it'll go.

Sadly, I don't see any wonderful cars or anything to write home about coming of this.

This is now a European thing as well, France and I think Italy both sending warships.....no one wants high fuel prices, except Iran, Russia etc....of course

Sounds like the problem is the "ground to ship" ballistic missiles, at least they get a bit of time to shoot them down..

The whole "Palestine thing" is just utter madness, just feel so sorry for the ordinary folks on the ground, on both sides.

Our weak Australian PM and government have refused a request for a warship. No wonder he's called Mr Magoo.
Experience is what you have immediately after you need it.

On a more positive note....Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States have signed up to a submarine deal designed to equip Australia with nuclear-powered submarines as fast as possible. (AUKUS)
