As I transition back to SUs what to do with Weber collection?

Post by CooperTune »

After buying a totally raged out 1960 850 in 1968, I bought a 40 DCOE. I tried to make my own intake. The 850 never got a Weber system. Fast forward 2000 I retired and sold my vintage race team. The 45 DCOE 9 I ran for years went with. I started collecting carbs, intakes, linkage and air cleaners. I recently picked up another split kit. Both are from mid 70s and used. One set is as supplied from Longman with the big air horns. As much as I love looking at them, I'm not planning cutting for a Weber box ever again. Issue is I have about 20 carbs and almost as many intakes. Steve (CTR)

Sell them. Original Webers (as opposed to the Spanish ones) command good prices. If you’ve got 20, you could problem sell them a by a whole car!

Years ago, I would start my day looking at Ebay. I noticed that every Weber listed got bought by Pierce Manifolds. I tried bidding against them but failed. That's when I decided to buy every Weber, intake and part I could. I took a look at their site last night. DCOE 9s and DCOE 152s are offered at over $500 US. The down draft progressive kits are high as well. So, I just pick a price list and sell, and I can buy a car? I currently have 8 classic mini projects. First one completed and looking for a new home. The next one, shell painted and all parts on hand. Not sure if my age or current events, it is taking a year per car. Not sure I want to be doing this into my 80s. Steve (CTR)
