Most Misused Advertisment Words

Post by 111Robin »

Ok, we've all seen them, here are my pet hates, please continue the list for a light hearted whinge :
1. Barn find : the most abused term ever
2. Time warp : more often applied to tarted up cars than actual original ones
3. Previously owned by a pilot : yes, and ?........ what's the relevance ?, ok so you can fly a plane but you didn't build it (normally)

Rare:

May be old, may be sought after, probably neither.

Full MoT history = nothing in the way of service history

'Could be the [insert minor problem but likely to be major] but I'm no mechanic'

Said to have a full race engine but I have no proof of this

Real head turner = usually because it's hideous

Just needs a weekend's work = a two year restoration project

90% finished = a two year restoration project

The value of these is only going one way

If it's not gone by tomorrow I'll probably just keep it

My pet frustration - 'Long MoT', and then when you actually look its got 6 months still to run.
In my day a Long MoT was a 13 month ticket... anything else is just 'Mot'd until xxx'

Not that I ought to care as I'm not inclined to buy anything soon with a barn-full of project cars and others just parked in there when they did run out of ticket and I wanted to use something else!

No time wasters, time wasters don’t realise they are one. Found this in my grandfather’s shed but I know what it’s worth, best of all It’s not mine I’m selling for a “fiend”who does not have the internet.

off topic a bit, but, when you look at the bids, this is a clue that they are shill bidding "private listing - bidder identity protected"
