The mini was at Goodwood Revival in one of the trade stands and creating a lot of interest - does look retro and sharp in the green and white get up.
But the price ........... . You could nearly have bought a mark one land rover and a shepherds hut for £110k at Goodwood with a free pair of green wellies

Just to clarify things here . I am a personal friend of Phil’s who is the owner of Brightwell Motor Company. I would have thought by now that many forum members on here know that Scott is one of my best friends . I can say with 100 % certainty that the minis purchased as doner cars to turn into these cooper car company cars are genuine complete cars purchased as needing restoration . The whole project of making 20 of these minis is ongoing and will obviously take a number of years to complete . I may stand corrected on this but I think that there is 9 confirmed orders as to date . All of these in varying states of progress. I am not going to start to justify the price because it’s life changing money to some people but those of us who restore minis on a regular basis or even as a hobby know how much goes into them , wages parts etc . … regards Shirley

There are plenty of people out there currently 'cashing in', (not that I like that term), on various versions of Mini's, David Brown, Swiftune Madgwicks to name a couple, others are, and have been available throughout the Mini's history, such as the 90's Downton conversions, and various re-births of W&P / Radford etc.
With the history of the Cooper Car Co / John Cooper Garages why shouldn't there be a version from them ?, the cars I have seen all look top quality, if it was in reach I'd probably have one, I'd say the same for a Swiftune car, and a Vortz car, or a period built Radford, however I'd not want a DB version, each to their own when it come to tastes and depth of pockets.

When we looked at these cars a few months ago the build quality was excellent..
As for price I bet when all costs are considered there’s not a big profit involved, remember picking a few bits up at a show and building a car in your garage costs enough just think of adding premises and staff costs on top!

Each to their own, but this new craze for "recreations / continuations" at eye watering prices really doesn't do it for me.

Remember lots of people have lots of money and are willing to pay for a turn key car that costs more that it’s worth.
Most on here like myself enjoy the build the rich boys have no idea just deep pockets for a show of toy that’s one better than there mate..most will never drive them..
Different things to different peoples enjoyment, there still a nice build..

Back in the day people used to say the same thing about the prices paid for the now sought after Hooper/Radford and Wood & Pickett Minis, nostalgia ain't what it used to be....

Not buying a works rally car any time soon then.

To be fair wealthy buyers who know little about the cars they’re blowing six figures on have existed forever, Radford/Wood&Pickett and John Brown Minis are a great case in point, fake works rally cars etc. It’s a market that’s been around forever and plenty have tried to get a new limited edition off the ground. Like you Mark there’s a hundred other interesting cars I’d have before any sterile new build but a well built shiny new totally rust free turn-key classic does have its appeal to plenty with the wonga to buy one.
The Swiftune Madgwick cars looked really good value when they came out , not sure how much they are now?

I suspect these will be purchased mainly as "investments" and will never see any use. I don't know enough about these things to be sure, but I would have thought that a fully restored original Mk1 S would be a better investment than one of these ?. Limited run type things usually only go up in value if they sell out immediately they are announced and folk are climbing over each other to get one. The likes of the Jaguar XKSS "continuation" cars built to original spec' by Jaguar using unused chassis numbers for example. I don't see these being in the same category. They do look very nice though.
