Early HiLo adjustment

Post by Fanfaniracing »

In order to build up my improved rear subframe, i was thinking of fitting one of the early HiLo's that are lying allround in my loft.

How is it about setting height with this HiLo's?

Is it easy to adjust the height?

Has the Car to be lifted up or can it be adjusted on it's wheels?

How about the holes to be drilled in the rear valance, how did you measure where to drill? ( saw a lot of cars with lots of holes because they didn't strike the right position the first time...

Thought about to laser the whole thing to get an idea...

Can be adjusted with wheels on the floor, very useful when corner weighting. Can't remember exactly how I positioned mine, think I looked from the wheel arch with hilo and cone in place and just extended the imaginary line of the hilo strut out to the valance. You can see the hole in the back of the subframe from below to get the distance inboard.

I adjust the rear of my 1070 that has the very early type Hi-Low set up.. very easy up or down height adjustment when using the "original" supplied Long Allen "T Key ".. other than i need to remove the Rear Bumper to get the T Key fitting fully into the Hi-Low Adjuster .. height adjusting can be done with the full weight of the car on its tyres.
