Rebuilding the Mini which included having a box of bits and bobs re-plated.
This included the nuts that hold the front brake hoses onto the subframe.
Unfortunately the threads are now too tight (same for the clutch hose one).
Anyone know what thread these babys are? 5/8 by something very fine?
Maybe cheaper/easier to buy new ones if I can source them.
Thanks

Re: Thread Size
Or just make 3 from a hex bar of stainless - just like I did! They'll outlast your car too.......

Re: Thread Size
Just happen to be rebuilding a subframe. The fittings that go through the subframe for the brakes are according to my thread gauge, 26 tpi. And 5/8 inch.
Cheers, Doug.

Exactly as Doug says Graeme. Just what I did too.
I've got a funny feeling that Catmint do these together with the stainless internal star washers

Re: Thread Size
Thanks for the info - sounds like 5/8x26TPI BSB or BSC.
Looks like I can get a second hand tap from Ebay to clean them out, or buy new at a price.

Re: Thread Size
Most of the super fine threads you will find on an early Mini are BSC (British Standard Cycle) threads.

Re: Thread Size
Can be confused with British Standard Brass also 26tpi but a 55 degree thread (like whitworth and BSF) the cycle is 60.
BSB was used by some firms on adjusters?
