Head and gearbox stamped numbers

Post by abri »

I have a 12G940 head fitted to a 1275 S with the following numbers stamped into the head:

21680 (stamped between the rocker cover edge and the thermostat housing

GCR 16252 TC (stamped between the thermostat housing and the rear edge of the head.

Could anyone shed a light on what these may mean?

The 333 gearbox on it has 12FA12065 stamped into it. What does this mean?

Abri, any chance you might have swapped any numbers there? Maybe the 21680 is 12G1805... or a part of it?

I have no idea about the GCR number, maybe it had been modified in the past.

The 12FA number is correct for your car/engine.

Weren't GCR a cylinder head company in the 1980's? I've a feeling they may have been in the Salisbury area.
