Hi all,
I have stripped my Remote gearshift as having some minor trouble selecting gears. A few parts missing.
The car has been raced a long time ago, and it may be some sort of aftermarket part. It doesn't work very well. The arm with the curved bit stops you getting reverse by mistake.
Does anyone know what type of linkage this is?
Many thanks
Andy T

KAD and MiniSpares did those short shift kits. I think it might be KAD just because it’s a pretty colour. I don’t like them, every car I’ve driven with an after market short shift has had a pants gear change.

Re: short shift kits (which I suspect this is)
I have fitted them a couple of times to remotes and each time reverted to standard.
The short shift felt sticky and awkward and also felt like you might not be doing the synchros a lot of good either.
I have also had similarly bad experiences with other short shift installations in non-minis - you think I would learn

Re: Remote Gearshift Identification
Actually I quite like mine. I would agree that the blue bit looks very similar to the KAD item I use.
At first it did feel a little stiff. However, after having the gearbox rebuilt (professionally - I didn’t do that good a DIY job) it feels as nice as any standard shift I’ve experienced. After 25 odd years I’ve become quite used to it.
You do know that the black bits are not part of the Quikshift kit ??? ... and can be replaced with a standard factory top cap.
And that a piece of heater hose of the correct length between the top and bottom balls will solve the dreaded shift “sizzle/rattle”?
Cheers, Ian
