Re fuel pressure, I was running just over 2psi and it's fine in the workshop but taking it out on the road minus bonnet and it spews fuel out of the tickler ports. Spoke with Bill Richards and he said 1.4-1.5psi max, so am going to try that.
What cam are you running? Got the 300 in mine and it seems very cammy indeed with not a lot to nothing below 3000 but it does wind up once on cam. Not something to be driving around a town that's for sure!!

Re: OBL45F in Australia
Hi, The amals are an intriguing thing!
I have just got back from taking my car to our big Rally Retro, and it got its first drive from the trailer to the display area = 200m.
So I cannot give a real answer yet, but it did feel very torquey from low down,
The flooding you mention, is that from the tickler itself, or from the port at front which is from float bowl?
i am using a 276 cam. I have a basic belief that most people fit a cam too big for their needs....torque makes a car drive well.
My car will be different to most, locked distributor means I have a permanent 31 degrees timing
As you are in Uk, and I am in Australia, perhaps you could contact Burlen and find out if they sell the small did needle and seats seperately, they are either .050" or .062" hole. I believe you could actually run some fuel pressure then without flooding persistently.
I am working on something to pipe away the flooding securely.
My car is now mostly complete, bit more signwriting, carpets, lamp wiring , tuning, registration etc
It was a very big Rally Retro, with lots of brilliant ex works fords, datsuns, toyotas, renault, etc and amazing replicas, but the ex works Tom Seal / Russell Brookes car won best up to 1970, best restoration and best display. pretty exciting.

Re: OBL45F in Australia
Looks great!!
I'm unsure, it only was happening whilst going down a bumpy farm track. I have taken all the float bowels off and set the floats at 4.5mm below the top lip of the bowel, seems better in the workshop but will take it for a spin later. One thing I noted was it didn't "spit" back at all when cold after doing the floats which it did prior. All the floats seemed to be set high.
I didn't use fuel but marked the bowel with callipers and then inverted them and ensured the float was at the mark.

Re: OBL45F in Australia
Hi, the OBL45F car is now about 98% complete. The Amals work fine after more work.I have put a small injection tube into each inlet port, and can enrich the mixture for cold starts by pushing a button on the dash. No more opening the bonnet ! The main jets supplied in the kit were reduced by 5 full sizes, and after getting idle and full throttle correct, the rest of the mixtures are very good. I also put a rest stop on the linkages on the side of the head, so I can fit a light spring to hold the main linkages at full return. My float height is 1mm and fuel pressure approx 2psi.
I have had almost all the stickers and side stripes fitted, so it is now a very close to original 72 RAC rally car. I hope Tom Seal sees a photo. !!
I have also now competed in our oldest hillclimb track (beleived to be 2nd oldest in the world !) Robroy revival 2023. Not driven in full anger, but the car performed faultlessly, and is much more torquey than I expected. This is its first competiton event in 45 years.
The journey has been very rewarding, and although I have been a mini man since 1967, I have learned an awful lot about the racing, rallying history.
I also have many many people to thank for their assistance. It has been a team effort.
I have a few things to detail, and have entered to drive it at our Winton Historic meeting in Tintop regularity.
I will post again when more news
cheers Lindsay Siebler
I do have a 14sec video of the hillclimb, but I have no idea how to upload it.

Thanks doug, I took your suggestion and put it on youtube, with a summary of its UK history.
The first run was very careful .

Re: OBL45F in Australia
Hi, OBL45f had its first taste of circuit racing in over 50 years, running in regularity Tin Tops pre 65 at Winton Historic meeting, Victoria weekend 28th May. A lovely collection of old touring cars lined up, Regularity means you nominate your lap time, which for me was quite slow, as while it has good speed, its heavy and the tires are pretty poor that are on the 12" magnesium Rosepetals. The photo is from Speedcafe. an unkown to me professional. A 1275 A40 Farina behind. One thing i did note is I have not fitted a side mirror as I cant see one on any OBL45F. The inside only mirror is tragically poor when racing. cheers Lindsay
