I guess for cost reasons rather than efficiency, and the 6 blade currently available is for hot climates ?

I don't know what their reasoning was. The plastic fans are supposedly quieter. I just find they are as loud, just they make a different sound.

The plastic ones are supposed to be more efficient due to the blade profile. The later plastic fans are supposedly quieter and more efficient due different blades. I reckon if the fan is the noisiest thing on a Mini somethings wrong!

I use a plastic one on the race car, it’ll sit in 30c temps and never overheat.

my car has always had a plastic fan whilst I have owned it, so is it seen as an acceptable mod rather than keeping cars exactly as original in terms of looks ?
