Re: FJ Valves in a 295
I fitted fj valves in a 295 head on an offset 68mm bore and the exhaust opened but just brushed the bore so put a small pocket in.

Re: FJ Valves in a 295
If you are going to have to pocket the block anyway, does it not make sense to then fit a 940 head (adjusted for CR)? or is there a specific wish to fit the small bore head?

Re: FJ Valves in a 295
I have been collecting 295 castings for years as 1275s become harder to find. My approach has been to have hard exhaust seats installed and I use the late multi groove O/S intake and exhaust offered from MSC. I have used a 940 casting and even added the extra studs as well as pocketing the block. I'm also using the late 998 press fit rods and flat top press fit pistons. Steve (CTR)

Re: FJ Valves in a 295
I may be the guilty party here with my notions about FJ valves in the 295 head.
It all stems from my interest in the tuning of the small bore engine, which I do feel is often overlooked in the quest for more cubic inches. Many, many years ago, GRV created me a 295 head with 33mm inlet valves balanced up to larger than standard exhaust valves. At the time FJ valves were discussed but we decided not to go quite that large, possibly due to the potential complications of pocketing the block etc. However, I still have the urge to try and make one work with the REC FJ valve sizes.

Re: FJ Valves in a 295
I'll have to dig out my small bore 185 head with oversized valves. I never measured them but they sit very close
