Just came across this shot taken at Abbey Road, with George's Mercedes Benz 600 and Paul's Radford...

A replica is being built as I write. Complete with rebuilt hatchback but painted black with Aston rear lamps.

George Harrison would have been 80 today....

Liverpool is marking the late Beatle George Harrison's 80th birthday with a tribute show:-

Harrison was the favourite Beatle for a surprising number of people, my Mum included. His 1970-74 solo stuff was arguably the best of any of the four. All things must pass is an epic album.

I agree.....and recently his son Dhani Harrison produced a remixed and expanded edition of the album.

Not everybody’s cup chai I know but I thought it was great to see these three cars back together in London for the first time in a very long time where they spent their time back in the 60s, first time IN LONDON, I know they were together at Goodwood in 2019. Stars of an otherwise quiet show! THEY decided they didn’t want them displayed with Fred’s Lennon replica and security around the cars was very tight indeed, a full time security guard and also a lady patrolling them at all times meant that literally nobody got a close look but it was lovely to spend time chatting about them with Steve B on Saturday, who also made it up to the stage to talk about them. Very unusual occasion that I can’t see happening again.
I can understand the security because I took Minty, Simon J took his works car and John had 732 HOP there which were all being prodded and poked all weekend, several attempts to get in them aswell! 🤦‍♂️😆

Pity you couldn't get up close but it's understandable, I couldn't make it but I'm glad the three Fabmobiles were there all the same. Imagine all three of them lined in the car park at Abbey Road, or outside Macca's gaff just round the corner in Cavendish Avenue... ;)

Ringo's 'it don't come easy' was a Harrison production. You can see why Lennon & McCartney might have wanted to suppress his talent.

I have been watching the new 'Get back' film, now out on a triple DVD, and you can see in the film Harrison previews some of his songs to Lennon & McCartney during the Let it Be/Abbey Road sessions, that eventually ended up on his solo 'All Things Must Pass' triple LP album ....as well as him producing, writing and co-writing several hit records for Ringo's early solo career.

I watched the first part of that opus, never bothered with the second & third instalment. I can see how it would interest Beatles obsessives, but GOD! I thought it was boring :)

Pity on the Fred Lennon replica. I do wish the Harrison car had the right wheels, number plates, bumper under corner bars etc - not hard to do and it would make a massive difference!

In all fairness, that's the only car still in the ownership of the family. Surely in this case it is what it is.

True.

I have a pair of plates identical to the originals for it somewhere I'd be happy to donate!

I bet the Lennon replica would have drawn more interest than the others individually as a part built car and collectively it would have made for a more interesting display.
Agree the Harrison car is what it is but could be made so much better especially with some period changes.

When this car was fitted with its original Cosmic RW10's (with SP44's for some weird reason) did they just stick way out on the front? or was the Carlos Fandango look, addressed in some other way?

George's car in the Radford workshop with the Cosmics fitted, late '65 / early '66...
