CV Gaiters (drum type)
Has anybody got any recommendations for a CV gaiter that won't dissolve in five minutes? I may have to replace the existing ones if they're no longer servicable. Only ones I'm finding are the MiniSpares ones GSV1053

The last time I used these;-

which was about 2 years back, I found them excellent. They will fit the Drum Brake type CVs.

The Japanese ones are good.
And so they should be at about £80 a piece.
Nick Rogers was selling them at one time I believe.

Re: CV Gaiters (drum type)
The correct fitting minispares boot for drum CV is GDG233. I have been fitting these for years with no issues. They seem identical to boots supplied in CV joint kits.
Rubber is decent quality and thick.
Just avoid their generic boots which are flimsy and can split just by applying required nip to the securing straps.

Re: CV Gaiters (drum type)
Then why do they keep selling them? Have they been given feedback about the poor quality?
If Minispares (or any other prominent supplier) is aware of the issue they either should stop stocking them or should provide a clear statement to potential buyers warning about a likely and imminent failure.
In case it's not obvious it really annoys me when the same issues from the same suppliers keep repeating over and over and over, trapping newcomers who probably aren't aware that some rubber items aren't what they were in the good old days.

Re: CV Gaiters (drum type)
I only had a pair of them on the bench a few days ago, as fitted to my own car (in 2012). As good as the day the day they were fitted. Those I fitted a couple of years back (not on my car) felt the same and last time I did look at those (October just passed), they were fine.gs.davies wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 7:48 pmAre they still in one piece? I did also try a GSV1053 also about 2 year back. Utter rubbish. I think it lasted about 2 months.
