Rear seat back

Post by 66S »

Hi guys,
I've just received my new blue/brocade Newton upholstery for my March built '64 FY race car and I am a little puzzed about a detail at the top or the rear seat back. What I think is likely to be the original seat has one only metal part, a stamping that runs across the top of the seat and there are no metal fingers that locate into the two bulkhead holes (the holes are there though). This part has a lip that would mean that the seat back would have to be fitted before the parcel shelf liner. Could that be correct? My '65 and '66 are made differently and the seat comes down on top of the liner. It appears the parcel shelf liner has 4 x screws or pop rivets holding it too. Two against the seat and two against the window. I would appreciate clarification on the the seat and parcel shelf liner fixings, if anyone can.

Regards
Al

Hi AL. If this link is correct you may have the wrong seat for a 64 (perhaps it was actually a 63 and reg in NZ 64)

It shows the style you have to be 59-63 which is the same I have. (scroll about half way down to see 'stripped down' seat)

Hi Steve,
The car has many parts dated '63 so I think the CKD kit may well have been put together in late '63. The seat is shown in that Somerford page, complete with 4 x screws to hold it to the parcel shelf. Thanks for that, it seems likely the set-up is correct.
