SU Fuel Pump overhaul

Post by Fanfaniracing »

Got my latest purchase in my workshop and trying to get the Fuel Pump working...

It's a AUF208? (1964 Mini electric fuel Pump...)

Dismantle everything, cleaned the points and assembled again but the Pump won't make any noise or pumping action.

Is there a guide somewhere here?

I couldn't find anything
I promise i won't buy another MkI...

If you thread the diaphragm in too far the points won't trip, could be the issue.

I already find out this with the thread...

Does the old Pumps can be used positive and negative earth?

As it's an mechanical interrupter it should work either way ?

Yes the points operated pumps are not polarity sensitive, only the modern electronic versions are.

Got the Pump out again this evening and dismantled it, cleaned the points and adjusted everything like in the description.

Works fine and is not leaking!

Will try to get the Car working after 30 years of hibernation...
