Did the profile of the roof change through production? I’m thinking of getting shot of my full birtax roof for a metal one it’s a mk2
Has anybody had a go doing this or is it all best left alone
Thanks Doug

Re: Roof sink
I don't think that they did........, but I could be wrong of course. I did the same to get rid of a distorted roof on my Mk2 in 1986 or so. New roof fitted a treat. A good opportunity to replace the drip rain thinggies at the same time

Re: Roof sink
I just unpicked the whole roof panel that as I recall, sat into the guttering. I unpicked the drip rails too, simply because I could see rust oozing out between the guttering and the drip rail.
I made two new drip rails. They were a bit of a sod to make because they are a compound curve but got it right....., eventually.
Spot welded, sealed and that was it. Have you ever thought of cutting your 'missing' bit from a scrap mini roof. 1/2" extra all round, joggle the edges, insert and spot weld in place. Then lead load the join/seam. My friend Andy Steele did it this way when restoring his E-Type. Totally invisible - except when you removed the roof headlining

Re: Roof sink
I don’t think they changed.
If it is of interest, I have a salvaged Mk4 roof panel in the NW - cut off about 9” down the pillars
