The brass nuts that hold the AEG573 MK3 Cooper S type inlet manifold on to the head are really difficult to access because the the underside part of the big square flanges (where the carbs mount to) gets in the way of any combination of spanner or socket I have tried. The car is fitted with an LCB if that makes any difference
Is there some sort of spanner/socket available to help or would i be better cutting the corners off the intake manifold flanges at 45 degrees?
Hope that makes sense. Thanks

Re: AEG573 Inlet manifold
i use 1/4 inch Whitworth Combo Ring Spanner from back in the day it is has no bend or offset within the spanners length .. can agree 1/4 whit is the wrong size but it fits & works with a LCB fitted.

Re: AEG573 Inlet manifold
Or you could source / make deep brass manifold nuts they are readily available.

Re: AEG573 Inlet manifold
Thanks. Would the longer brass nuts work in this setting ? Wouldn't they foul on the 573 flange?
I'm still tempted to cut a diagonal off the flange unless there is a good reason not to

Re: AEG573 Inlet manifold
Agree with above. Spalding fasteners are a GREAT company to deal with. Old, obscure threads and sizes for my Commando and mini cooper....., they've got it
Re: AEG573 Inlet manifold
On my S using H4 carbs I use the long Brass nuts on the inside two studs. I use a 3/8" drive with a small socket and a 6" extension rod. Dont undo them all the way, as soon as you feel that the nuts is spinning, turn it back on one revolution. Do the same when putting the manifold back. R
