Grommets

Post by gs.davies »

Does anyone have a list of all the grommets needed on Mk1 car? Or is there a pack I can buy that covers every hole? I need to do the floors, bulkheads and electrics and would be grateful if Someone had already worked this out.

Cheers
Gary.

In the motorcycle trade they do a complete set of stainless nuts, bolts etc etc. Indeed, Catmint do the same for various assemblies on the mini (rear subframe attachment as I recall.....) But never heard of a complete set of grommets. I'm one of those cheapo's who just buys a big bag of assorted grommets at the big auto jumbles/fairs. Beaulieu have loads of traders selling big bags of them. Not original but they're normally unseen and keep the water out!

MS stock most of the "odd" gromets, but I don't think they do them in car sets.

Slightly off topic, but on the UK cars, are the wiring grommets in the boot lid the same as in the photo, or is it more a stock looking grommet?
This one is from an Aussie Mini, and I could not find an origianl looking replacement.

That looks correct for a boot lid .. I might be able to supply a NOS one of those.

Most of the grommets are available from minispares & the like, they do take some hunting down on the web site though.

Probably best to give them a ring.

The difficulty I'm finding is that I'm starting from scratch and have no idea which ones go where, what names different ones have (grommet, blank, plug, diaphragm etc..)
