Who, what, where, when?
Looking to identify the remains of a mini, using all the tags and FE number I have with it. I also had a search round the site and a look in the technical section, but still not quite sure whats what. Any assistance would be appreciated.
FE 688359
Commision No. 2-50S-7865A
1176967 is all thats on the black and silver tag.
Cheers D.

The prefix 2-50S on a commisionnumber is a MK2 Cooper or S the number suggests early 1968.
I don't know what you mean with "1176967 is all thats on the black and silver tag."
if it's the chassisnumberplate then there's stuf missing..............

That FE Number is from a Mk 1.

Re: Who, what, where, when?
Well its a mk1 shell, two tank holes, boot board brackets, no engine, no interior.
That is all thats on the chassis plate, soz meant to be more specific than just black and silver tag. The lack of numbers and letters on the chassis plate confused me also, hence the reason I posted, just on the off chance someone would jump in straight away and say "bla bla bla". I have been informed that it was E or F on its plates (waiting on them and the log book), the person had it off the road for years and there are parts everywhere it seems at his house. My own Cooper is a very late registered car Aug 68 on F prefix and it is a mk1, everything seems to tally up on that apart from the engine which was changed yonks ago, that car was a special order case by the former owner, and I am only the second owner since 68, so all the history I have with it confirms everything. This one is just an oddball lol, I think its probs going to be ID for one car and the shell of another.
I am waiting further info and parts turning up which might help, but like I say I found some of the lack of detail on the chassis plate to be odd. When I looked in the technical section it also said the an A prefix at the end was common on english cars, and refered to as "internal use only".

That chassis number, if indeed it is the correct one, is from mid 1968. I guess its a repro chassis plate of some sort? If you contact BMIHT they can tell you what the original prefix was.
