Re: 1960 / 70's Mini Racing Photos
Hi Guys I was pointed here by MabUK who was a fellow Mini Se7en fan and was involved like I was back in the 1970s well he was more that I was. No doubt we saw each other at the circuits but never realised it. I helped out with Terry Pudwells car and one of his spanner guys, The team consisted of Terry, Chris Terry’s Dad and myself. I cannot call myself a mechanic or Chris, he liked Terry was a computer programmer and I was a Vacuum Technician or to put it another was a Mechanical Tech. I also worked in a Pun in the evenings which was where I heard about Terry starting his race career. He told me he was doing is first race on the following Sunday after his Girlfriends Birthday party I told him I would go along to watch it at Silverstone. I went to the party and got so drunk terry took my car keys off me so next day I cadged a lift to the circuit with a almighty hangover

The next night I saw Terrys dad at the pub I worked in and asked if Terry an extra and was told com come along so that is how a I started my tiem on the Mini Se7en circit. I have more photos to show yet and will post them another day

Second race was Croft but Terry also entered one at Rufforth a day or so before so I had become involved then and helped sort out the car for the circuit and the drive there. It was drizzleing when we arrived so not promicing and after chatting with Graham Wenhams mate he told me they had spent the night there and woke to horizontal rain. I cannot say it was the most memorable weekend as during practice for the race at Rufforth Terry encountered gearbox problems.
The car jacked up and terry looking at it

This was the start at a saloon car race

Roadrunner, great pictures and recollections, thanks for posting.
If only they had some sort of open class historic racing these days instead of the identikit FIA appendix K stuff that is run at just about every meeting now. The only place to see the old type of amateur innovation now is at hill-climbs.

Never realised they raced 1100's, they were bad enough on the road with that suspension

Who's filling up the Mini at the 1966 British Grand Prix event at Brands Hatch?

Just spotted that it has arch trim instead of a bumper. I know it is 1966, but has anyone tried to do this in Pre-65 Historics?
