You cheated, you stopped short of the end (or beginning?) of the arch extension! lol

Re: Best plastic chrome sill/arch trim?
I will admit I've not done a a car with spats.
I make sure I buy the trim with the rippled profile on the inside of the roll. This way the tighter bend is more natural for the material, tho the wheel arches need to curl backwards.
I made a gig from steel sheet and wood to replicate the tight bend at either end of the sill, and use that to preform the trim. Sometimes a bit of heat is needed.
Once the two tight bends are set, the trim is fitted along the straight section first, then the tight bends, then the wheel arches.
As others have said, I've written off at least 1/3 of the trims I've tried.

Lol, as I mentioned earlier this area is impossible isn't it, though it can be achieved with thinner type trims I wanted the original look - so cut it to match my car's appearance in the 70sDUF2 ‘65 Elf wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 12:13 pmYou cheated, you stopped short of the end (or beginning?) of the arch extension! lol

This is a pic of the Minispares trim fitted to my hillclimber with Gp5 Arches. As you can see, it fits pretty much perfectly & didn't require hot water, hot air or anything else. It's just pushed on & can be pulled straight off should you wish to do do.
