Re: At The Auctions
This would be an interesting one to research. I had it years ago and sold it on. It was rubbish, rusty, bodged up, black, grp Clubman front etc. It had an 850 MA2S4 chassis number but had 998 Cooper running gear. You'd need to get the number and check Gaydon records.

Re: At The Auctions
As the KKD - x x x E cars were manufactured in Nov/Dec 1966 I guess when it was reregisterd in 2021 it was given a 1966 D reg from the locality where it was then residing.Simon776 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 17, 2022 8:56 am The chassis number is one of the Liverpool Police cars originally registered KKD 4**E. They were the ones specified without a right hand tank despite being built in late 1966.
Be interesting to see where it ends up price wise as, unlike the Bangers and Cash car, I don't think I see much of the original car there.
I have seen this before on a car originally with an E reg but manufactured in ‘66.

They were getting a large amount of negative comments, which is not surprising when you listen to the "Salemans Pitch" that they use.Costafortune wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 3:55 pm Matthewsons have turned off the comments on their YouTube vids it seems.
Compare it with this auction video for this 1300 Traveller. It's like chalk and cheese.

I was told when I went up there last year that you don’t need to view the cars really as they expect you trust their description. Err…no, you definitely do need to view the cars.Pete wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 8:02 pm“Lovely underneath”Costafortune wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 3:55 pm Matthewsons have turned off the comments on their YouTube vids it seems.

Re: At The Auctions
Looks like it has been done by one of the "later versions of Radford" as opposed to actual 1960's Radford. All looks very 1990's to me.peasantslife wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 4:13 pm How Radford do you think this is?

Having said that, I know bugger all about coach built Minis.

Re: At The Auctions
Certainly it has been for sale many many times before over the years and was previously discussed on these pages. I think the general opinion was that it was not an "old school" or original "coachbuilt" Mini. I'm doubtful that the registration number is original as one of my cars, after a cherished plate transfer, was given a replacement reg of ABW xx F.

Re: At The Auctions
I remember it being for sale in Banbury for about £50k a few years ago and I was tempted to go and have a look as it was not too far away. It was sat next to my Mk2 S at Stanford Hall a few years ago and looking at it in close up it's very nicely done. I think it would look better wit ha darker coloured interior but it's ok as it is. I wonder who did all the work...?

Doesn’t look like W&P or Radford but has been described as such for years.

Re: At The Auctions
I believe several Minis went through W&P during the 1970s to be modified. Deseaming. Mk 2 lights, interior upgrades etc. This particular car has a very unusual dashboard which reminds me of what we used to construct as teenagers because we couldn't afford to get a company to do it for us. As I have said any times "Caveat Emptor."
