96 spi wiring / fuse diagram
Has anyone got a decent wiring diagram and fuse description for an August '96 SPi.
In particular, this 24 way fuse box in the engine hole above the m/cyls.

Re: 96 spi wiring / fuse diagram
I had the complete workshop manual including the electrical circuit on a Unipart CD and had it downloaded to paper format when I got my RCSport new in 2000. I understand Mark has downloaded the disc onto the forum '.....somewhere'.
Can you find it and bring it up Mark?
If I'm mistaken, I'll try to find the disc and send it to you to do the same. That's if the 2000 RCsport electrical spec is similar to the '96 SPi spec.
Let me know

Re: 96 spi wiring / fuse diagram
Just had a very quick look. Can't find the original CD. Mark might still have it and downloaded it onto the forum '.....somewhere'. Can you help here Mark
The electrical library in my hard copy printout is approx 200 pages - 1"+ thick. The various wiring diagrams following that cover some 35 pages so copying that lot would be a colossal task.
BUT the fuze box layouts are shown over a few pages. Do you want a copy of these pages. Son will have to do when he comes by.
Just working out and tracing back along the loom why my high intensity rear brake light wasn't working was an afternoons puzzle.
But I did take the advice of the original RCSport registrar when I got the car. Dob the terminals of the relays and fuzes into a tub of silicon grease to prevent any sign of connection failure in the future. So far, so good.....

You are a scholar and a gent. I'm sure that I have seen that small crib-sheet before. Where can I find it?

Peter
I found it on the Mini Forum, no luck finding a wiring diagram yet, and my old RAVE Rover CD will not work on my current machine. Annoying when old software (1999 Rover disc) will not work on 2015 Microsoft Windows.
If you place your cursor on the picture, click the right hand button on your mouse, click save image as, you can save a copy to your PC/Lap Top.

Re: 96 spi wiring / fuse diagram
Thanks all.
We have two troubles :-
1. no power to the fuel pump inertia switch,
and
2. the engine cooling fan on all the time.
At least I know which fuse to check for problem 1.
For 2, maybe the fan thermoswitch in the rad in kapput.

Re: 96 spi wiring / fuse diagram
I had problem 2 with my RCSport about 10 years ago years ago.
The rad was full of silt, rusty dregs and suchlike, that wasn't allowing the water to circulate and cool off. As a result, the temp sender was always too hot, coming on very soon and bluudy well staying on!!! Flushed right through properly the second time and that did the job. It still had the original Rover anti-freeze in. James the Chemist checked the SG for antifreeze and addiitives and there was hardly any in it nor was there any other engine protection against scale. anti rist etc etc.
Kept an eye on it and nnext summer, flushed right through and refilled with waterless. Been fine ever since. Long haul to Dusseldorf and back just before the last heatwave without any probs.
Hope that this is the simple cure for the fan problem. Interesting because the later not-real Coopers don't get a lot of air-time

Re: 96 spi wiring / fuse diagram
I have an intermittent fault on the fan problem on my Mpi.
The circuit for the fan has a thermo switch and a relay. The cooling fan relay can be found near the fuel cut off switch on both Spi and Mpi models.
By the way, has your car got the front mounted rad or side mounted rad?

Re: 96 spi wiring / fuse diagram
Side mounted rad. The thermoswitch is v close to the oil cooler - too close for comfort really.
While we're on the subject - I'd appreciate advise on what the yellow relay functions are .
So B is the cooling fan relay ?
PS You'll see I bypassed the fuel pump inertia switch, but then found no power there anyway.

Thannks MAB.
It seems the 95 & 96 vintage SPI cars with the engine compartment fuse box are a bit of an enigma.

Re: 96 spi wiring / fuse diagram
Trying to remember from many years back, I seem to recall that the fan on all the time could be the temperature sensor under the inlet manifold on the SPi cars,

Re: 96 spi wiring / fuse diagram
Yes B is the fan relay.
I have had no luck in finding the electrical diagram for an Spi with that fuse box. All I have found in the original one from 1993 which has around 15 in-line fuses.
Re: 96 spi wiring / fuse diagram
Just found this on the Somerford site

https://www.somerfordmini.co.uk/fuses-f ... and-relays
Fuse Box 1994-96 (Twenty-Four Fuse)
In common with other Rover and Land Rover models of the mid-1990s, the 1994 Mini fuse box became an integral part of the main wiring harness. Hardly convenient for replacement, this fuse box has never been recognised in Rover Group/MG Rover parts catalogues or workshop manuals. There are no published service part numbers for the fuse box or fuse box lid and currently the only way of getting a replacement fuse box is to purchase the main wiring harness! If anyone has further information relating to this fuse box, Somerford Mini would be extremely interested.
Ill. No. Part No. Description Qty. Rqd. Remarks
