Hi Folks,
See the grooves between 3 and 4. Is there any chance a head gasket will seal on this?
Thank you, Liam

I wouldn't call it 'toast' for that, but it'll need cleaning up before reassembly, a skim or grind. You could try a gasket, but I don't like your chances.

Think you need to have that block crack tested to see how deep it goes.

Can you see the ends of it in either of the bores?
I once had a 1275 block that someone scratched the deck presumably while removing the remains of an old head gasket. Didn't know it when I bought the engine and only discovered the damage when I pulled the head to have the valve seats redone. It shouldn't have resealed with a new head gasket but somehow did.
Yours is in a worse area than mine was so difficult to say. Did the gasket go?

Re: Does this Block look like Toast
Looks like there is a liner in the left cylinder of that photo ?
If so I’m guessing this is old damage, probably cracked through at some point in the past.
A crack isn’t going to grow past the edge of the liner, so for normal road use I think it would go again.

Re: Does this Block look like Toast
The crack probably happened when the liner was pressed in , to much of an interference fit

I guess you could have a liner put in the right side cylinder, but its probably cheaper to source a decent block and save any risk going forward.
