Love the bonnet hinges on the Moke, and the fuel pipe to nowhere…..! Will make a decent rolling resto if the price is right.

Speaking from experience, the floor of that Moke looks like it could be hiding many, many horrors that I wouldn't even want to think about.

Whilst repairs like this can be done well & are nothing to worry about, they can hide a whole world of misery. Rich still have nightmares about welding my apparently solid Moke up that had patches like this.

This one has an early use of the cutaway front panel, May ‘64? Over a year gap before being registered in July ‘65 but I suspect 1071s weren’t easy to shift once the 1275 was announced? I’m gonna guess it’ll do £35k plus, just due to the bad repaint. I suspect it’s bound to be restored.

I've never seen that cutout differ from side to side? (or is it a mod to cool the offside front brake disc or was it a Friday afternoon car for the staff discount scheme?)

I suspect back in the 80's when it was tided up it had one of these fitted to the right hand side

just revisiting this 850 that sold for £19,500.

Wrong front panel, wrong front seats compared to the backs, no side rear cover plates (or holes for them) and even a gear gator that they never had. Modern tank and servo do nothing for originality. Other stuff to but I was stunned to see it reach that figure????

Sadly you are probably right, and what a shame. At least some mods are practical ones, even if, erm, unusual

The panel fit and paint doesn’t look great either so I suspect the number plate will be coming off!

Are unrestored Clubman Estates worth what is being expected for these? Both are fairly low mileage cars, but the bodies are full of rot, dents and dubious repairs.

Some results. The Metro seems cheap, the Cooper seems fair, the Countryman expensive and the Moke a bargain.

First up is a 1983 series 1 MG Metro. Looks to be in good original condition with 61,000 on the clock. Sold for £3250




and second is this nicely restored mildly personalised 1967 Mk1 Cooper. Has the upside down door cards, but not much else to complain about. Even has correct 4 vent sills. Sold for £19,887





This Mk1 Countryman looks cheap with an estimate of £4,000-£5,500. Looks tidy with original interior. Only two lady owners. Sold for £11,275




Second is a cheap way into small wheel Moke ownership. a 1970 car from South Africa. Body looks a bit beaten up, looks like it has a couple of plastic school chairs in the back, but the guide is £4,000-£7,000. Ideal for those hot summer days we are having up north these days. Sold for £5,060

Many moons ago I had a 205 gti with a Longman conversion of the 405mi16 engine dropped in…. Pretty rapid at the time and quick even today.
