Rivet Clips issue

Post by twodoor64 »

I need help again... HELP I have a 1964 Cooper S (long time project)... I'm trying to fit the chrome door moulding (upper and lower). I can't find the right rivet clips. The upper door frame has 10 rivets. No luck finding clips. I order 13h525 clips for the bottom and the clips look right but to small for the molding. (10.14x6.75 mm). The window moldings are the original moldings..... Any help world be greatly appreciated.

Exminiman..... Thanks for the post... very helpful. My problem is, I took this car apart 46 year ago. I think I now understand what is meant by upper clip. My doors have the clips still installed, I just need to remove the overspray and I think I will be good to go. I'm assuming you just push the molding on..... and it holds beacuse a interference fit. The lower moulding... clips should be 13h525. The clips I got are to small to work. Did the early cars use a larger clip? Thanks for your help.

In that drawing above from MS it should be noted that 1,8,9,10 were slide on, and 2,3,4,5,6,7 were press on rivets originally.
1,8,9,10 = 13H744
2,3,4,5,6,7 = 13H743

Mark very kindly suggested using small pop rivets and washers in place of some of the clips to hold it firmly. This has worked very well on mine.
