Steering rack.....play
I've got very noticable play in my rack, not on any of the swivel parts.
Is the mk1 rack different to the others? or can i order one from the usual vendors?
Cheers

It's a relatively easy fix Dam......, if you have got a lathe and a bit of phosphor bronze off-cut. Mk1 rack is different to the Mk2. But if you want an exchange Mk1 rack, rebuilt properly, speak to Nick Rogers of this parish

Not my cup of tea Dan! But there is a tech article written some time ago about refurbing your own racks. A joint effort by me and Spider

Can't find it Peter.
Will probably do it over winter, or find a good one to do a swap.
A lot of shows to catch up on this time of year....

This will be it, but oddly, it's not filed in the Tech section - I'm not actually sure where it's kept !Peter Laidler wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 9:59 am I expect there's a forumer who's more computer literate than us will find it Dan

In a general way, all the racks are much the same, it's just small detailed items that are done differently, but when seeking parts, be sure you are getting THE right parts for the rack you have to hand, there's some but very few that interchange between them.

Thanks for the link and thanks for the offer Peter.
I'll probably take you up on that, I've never had a reason to strip a rack so I'm up for some education.
Cheers Dan
