Unknown Coil Bracket

Post by LuisM »

Hello all,

Anyone familiar with this clutch housing coil bracket support ?
Never seen it on a car , and this is the second time i found one on an engine bought for parts ,
Both were 998 with remote gearbox , I believe from Mk2/early Mk3 cars .

Cheers

Not seen that bracket on a mk3 or early clubman, not sure it would fit due to the location of the 90° fresh air intake pipe that goes through the inner wing. All the 69-72 mk3's and clubman I've owned have had the coil mounted on a head stud bracket

Me neither , this bracket might fix the problem you point on the location of the fresh air intake elbow, as it should position the coil in angle
1st one I’ve seen I thought it was a homemade job , but two with the same design makes it a factory or aftermarket item .

Would this be a Innocenti or Authi feature ?

Cheers

This is a coil bracket , as the bolt spacing is too wide for a starter solenoid .

Mean time I’ve found it in an Authi car , not the best pic but you can see the bracket and how the coil gets positioned .

Nice feature , like it more than the bracket hanged on the cylinder head stud .
