Instrument bezel, Mk2

Post by Peter Laidler »

Mk2 type 3 instrument housing. More to the point, the oval stainless surround. Can someone put up a picture of the little wire clip thinggies that hold the stainless surround to the housing? Or better still, does anyone have a supply of them. If I know what they look like, maybe I can make some.

Don't know whether this it technical or general..... but anyway!

Problem solved, thanks to brilliant, brainy Bob1071's idea for fixing the Mk1 whiskers to the front grille a week or so ago

Lifted his idea, cut a strip of thin brass that would slide into the stainless surround, drilled through and soft soldered 8BA brass screws in from the rear and filed to suit. Slid the fixers into the stainless surround - and Bobs your uncle - if you'll excuse the phrase. Worked a treat. Time for 14, including cutting the brass strip and soldering, 2 and a bit hrs total!

Thanks Bob

It gets better....... Bob, rc.davies of this forum has come up with a brilliant little method of replicating the original wire thinggies, together with a few self explanatory photos.

Just tried to ask Bob if he'll put said idea and photos on the Forum HOW-TO page.

Thanks to Bob Davis
