coolant drain plug

Is the gold colour bolt the coolant drain plug ?
Its a 71 A series engine.

Yes, the one with a copper sealing washer. When I removed mine from my MK1 850 no coolant come out as the aperture in the block behind the blanking plug had corroded up. When the engine was removed at a later date I drilled out the corrosion, can’t recall the original diameter of the hole in the block behind the blanking plug though.

Just to say mine was half full of corrosion but it came out reasonably easily, especially with a few flushes after digging away at it.

There is a corner in the flow there, so sediment doesn't tend to build up too deeply.

seem to recall a 6mm (ish) drill bit comes in handy to scrape the crud out in situ
