Re: Ignition light
Wire knocked off the dynamo.
I've got a 69 Mini with a 1046, Cooper Head and a four on the floor.

Re: Ignition light
It looks bright. Did you by chance use an LED instead of a regular incandescent (filament) light bulb?
If so, you need to wire a resistor in parallel to the LED, else there's not enough current to drive the F of the dynamo.

Re: Ignition light
Perhaps too obvious but have you checked that the Dynamo is actually charging the battery?
I still suspect a flash over to polarise it might be required?

Re: Ignition light
I had same with my mk1 and it was the points in regulator box, I took the box off and filed them clean, all was fine then, but if Dynamo been left standing will need Polarising as well.
Re: Ignition light
The control box is a good place to start as, if the dynamo and wiring are healthy and correctly connected, and the dynamo is correctly polarised, then just about the only remaining possible reason for the warning light staying on is the regulator points in the control box not making contact. These are between items 6 & 7 in the diagram below and can be cleaned with some fine wet & dry paper:

Re: Ignition light
Just had the same problems on my positive earth 1966 Cooper S :
- Red Ignition light stays on
- car shuts off when battery ground cable disconnected.
Performed these tasks :
- Polarized the dynamo
- cleaned regulator points
- adjusted regulator gap
With these results :
- red ignition light goes off after startup
- car still shuts off when battery ground cable disconnected
The above results were performed when the engine was idling.
When I increased the RPMs and disconnected the battery ground cable the engine DID NOT shut off.
So ... I believe my dynamo and voltage regulator are now functioning properly.
