Alternator clicking

Hi a new thing. The alternator clicks once when the ignition is first turned on am I ruining my new unit?

We don't know what alternator you've got David. But it sounds electrical. If it just clicks once the ignition is turned ON, then it indicates to me that something within it is being energised. Doesn't happen on my old Lucas 18 ACR type but.....

Have you run it? If it has been run and hasn't failed then it suggests to me that all is well. But I bet that one of the forum teccies will know the answer
